The New Associates Inaugurates Bayelsa State Chapter Holds Mega Rally In Yenagoa

The new Associates a Political group standing for good governance in the country has  inaugurated it’s chapter in Bayelsa State.

The inauguration which took place at Igbogene axis of the State was attended by supporters across the state and the South – South states.

In his opening remark, Dr. Roland Charles Sekibo, who is the Director General of Rivers Ijaw People Congress and a representative of the Chairman of the occasion, Senator Thompson Sekibo expresses joy at the mammoth crowd for turning up to grace the auspicious occasion saying  it’s a sign that the people are in support of the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the love that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike has shown to the Ijaws across Bayelsa and Rivers States.

According to him the rally was to celebrate a unique leader in the person of Barr. Nyesome Wike who has done so much for Ijaw Nation by facilitating the appointment of illustrious Sons and daughters of Ijaw nation to positions of trust in the Tinubu administration adding that the New Associate is in synergy with  president Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to transform the South South region and the country at large.

Dr. Sekibo urged Bayelsans to be part of the movement and support Tinubu come 2027.

Also Speaking, Professor Henry Ogiri, a Federal commissioner with National population commission who was the father of the day at the ceremony said the event was to celebrate the role Wike has played in lives the Ijaws saying that after changing the landscape of Rivers State he has taken the developmental strides to Abuja, which he is now working wonders.

He noted that, Wike was instrumental to the appointments of Ijaw sons and daughters to positions of trust including Sen Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister for Petroleum Resources (oil), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Hon. Ebitimi Amgbare, Chairman, Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA) and Mrs. Didi Walson Jack, the head of Federal Civil Service, among others.

He condemned in strong terms the earlier shooting that occurred at the venue by unknown gunmen stating that the Ijaws are always known for their peaceful disposition and not violence asking those behind the attack to have a rethink.

In his address, the Convener of the New Associates Bayelsa State Chapter who is also the Zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party South South and the current Acting Chairman Of PDP in Bayelsa State, Barr. George Turner (MON) said the mega rally was to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister, Barr Wike Nyesome for their efforts towards developing Nigeria and the Ijaw nation.

He said  although he is a member of the PDP but he is supporting Tinubu because of his good works in Nigeria, adding that Nigeria must come first before Party.

He also enumerated the success story of Tinubu’s administration across  the Niger Delta including the reduction of illegal bunkering through pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tantita Security Services headed by Chief Government TomPolo, which has also created employments for the teeming Niger Delta youths. He advised Bayelsa politicians to learn to appreciate good governance stating that being in opposition party is not to castigate or hate members of the opposition but to correct them whenever they err and appreciate when they perform well in order to balance governance. He equally condemned the shooting at the venue which led to stampede and the attack at his residence stressing that no amount of intimidation will make him go back on his support for President Tinubu and Barr. Nyesom Wike. He commended the New Associates members for their resilience despite threats and attacks.

He called on the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri to make his position known for the Presidential candidate that the state will support in the 2027 general election so that Bayelsans can queue in.

High point of the event was the inauguration of The New Associate Bayelsa Chapter by Sen.Thompson Sekibo.

Dignitaries who graced the occasion were the former IJaw Youth Congress (IYC) spokesman, Comr Ebilade Ekerefe, Hon. Philomena Dudafgha, PDP zonal south-south woman leader, Barr. Rufus Godwin, Federal Commissioner, among others.
