Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), in partnership with Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) and Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ), will commemorate the 2026 edition of International Women’s Day by hosting the “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” ceremony on March 10 at the NGX Group House in Lagos.
The event will take place during the Closing Gong Ceremony of the exchange and is aimed at drawing attention to the critical role of capital markets in promoting gender equality and empowering women in economic activities.
The ceremony forms part of the global “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” campaign, an initiative that mobilises stock exchanges around the world to promote increased participation of women in the economy and encourage gender-inclusive business practices.
This year’s programme is being organised in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), UN Women, World Federation of Exchanges (WFE), UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative (SSEI). The 2026 campaign is themed “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls.”
Several high-profile personalities are expected to attend the ceremony, including Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; Chioma Uzodimma, First Lady of Imo State; Frana Chukwuogor, Executive Commissioner for Legal and Enforcement at the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria; and award-winning actress Funke Akindele, founder of FAAN.
Others expected include Ojinnika Olaghere, Director at NGX Group, and Fatima Wali-Abdulrahman of NGX Group, alongside board members of the exchange, regulators, capital market stakeholders and industry leaders.
According to the organisers, NGX Group will join stock exchanges across the globe in sounding the NGX Closing Gong to emphasise the importance of inclusive leadership, equal opportunities and stronger market accountability in advancing gender equality.
Participants and stakeholders interested in attending the ceremony are encouraged to register through the NGX platform.
