SIFAX Group commemorated the 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD) with a series of impactful initiatives, including a school outreach programme, an employee empowerment webinar and a community food donation drive, touching the lives of hundreds of girls, women employees and vulnerable residents in Lagos.

One of the highlights of the celebration was an outreach to United Christian Secondary School, Apapa, Lagos, where more than 500 female students received mentorship from senior female employees of the company. The interactive session addressed leadership development, education, personal growth and menstrual health awareness.
As part of the outreach, the company donated textbooks, menstrual pads and perfumes to the students. The speakers also shared personal career experiences, encouraging the girls to remain committed to their education and resist distractions that could derail their ambitions.
They emphasised that discipline, determination and focus could unlock opportunities across various professions, including business, law, medicine, technology and the creative industries.
Company Secretary and Legal Head of SIFAX Group, Jesuyemisi Odeyemi, urged the students to pursue excellence with confidence and determination.
“You are strong. You can do it, and you will. You will not only do it, but you will also do it well, you will do it better,” she said.
Also speaking, Head of Corporate Communications at Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO), the aviation subsidiary of SIFAX Group, Vanessa Uansohia, encouraged the girls to overcome self-imposed limitations.
“The only person that is stopping you is yourself,” she said, urging the students to pursue their aspirations with courage and self-belief.
As part of its internal IWD activities, the company also organised an interactive webinar for female employees focused on strengthening communication and leadership skills in the workplace.
Female Employees Equipped with Public Speaking Skills
During the webinar, Public Speaking Strategist Joyce Daniels delivered a presentation titled “Speaking: A Tool for Growth, Multiplication, and Career Progression.” She encouraged participants to embrace public speaking as a powerful tool for career advancement, stressing that confidence and conviction are key elements of effective communication.
“If you will grow, multiply and have progression in your career, you will speak from a place of conviction,” she said, noting that influential leaders distinguish themselves by boldly articulating their ideas.
Group Coordinating Director of SIFAX Group, Wunmi Eniola-Jegede, described International Women’s Day as an important opportunity to celebrate the social, economic and cultural achievements of women while reinforcing the call for gender equality.
She noted that the company’s theme for the celebration, “Give to Gain,” aligns with its commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
“Every woman is a leader in her own right, and giving back creates growth opportunities for individuals, organisations and communities,” she said.
500 Food Packs Distributed in Ijora Community
Extending the celebration beyond the workplace, SIFAX Group also carried out a community outreach in Ijora, where 500 bags of assorted food items were distributed to vulnerable households.
Each food pack contained essential household staples including rice, beans, vegetable oil, garri and salt, carefully packaged to provide meaningful relief to families within the community.
The distribution exercise was carried out in collaboration with community leaders to ensure a transparent and orderly process.
Eniola-Jegede, who coordinated the outreach, said the initiative reflects the company’s culture of compassion and its commitment to supporting the communities where it operates.
She added that the programme also reinforces the message of International Women’s Day by encouraging women within the organisation to champion community initiatives that uplift vulnerable groups.
