CP Alabi Assures Safety, Highlights One Month Achievements In Lagos

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc held a media briefing at the command headquarters on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police presents one month’s achievements in the fight against crime and criminality within Lagos State in the past month or thereabout.

CP Alabi said, “We have a total of Fourteen (14) suspects who have engaged in various crimes including armed robbery, stealing, and criminal conspiracy, from all of these cases which we successfully cracked, we recovered a total of two (2) arms, twenty-five (25) live ammunition, eight (8) cars, and seven (7) cartons of Cussons baby products amongst other exhibits.”

CP Alabi Abiodun highlights the achievement in one month:

MURDER: This deals with a case of the murder of ASP Abiona Hezekiah ‘m’ aged 53 by two Naval Ratings namely Seaman Nnamani Anointing ‘m’ aged 28 and OSMTD Onyekachi Egwin ‘m’ aged 27. The ASP died when the suspects stabbed and killed him during a traffic stop that degenerated into a face-off at the Satellite area of Lagos State. The suspects
stabbed three other civilians in their bid to escape. The other stabbed persons are responding to treatment. The Command is currently working with the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Ministry of Justice, Alausa, Ikeja to ensure that justice prevails.

ROBBERY: On November 21, 2022, at about 0200hrs, credible information was received that some robbers were sighted at the premises of a manufacturing company in the Ikotun area of Lagos State. The robbers tied the hands and legs of the company’s security guards and were looting and evacuating the company’s products. Upon receipt of the information, Police operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene. On sighting the operatives, the robbers who were in numbers fled. The operatives embarked on an investigation that led to the arrest of 2 of three of the suspects namely Olayinka Micheal ‘m’ aged 35, Jamiu Abdulrahman‘ m’ aged 27, and Daniel John ‘m’ aged 28. Items recovered at the scene of the crime include one iron cutter, three padlocks, seven cartons of Cussons baby products, damaged padlocks, and ropes. The investigation is ongoing to arrest other fleeing gang members and possible recovery of the stolen items. Suspects will be charged in court at the completion of the investigation.

CONSPIRACY AND THREAT TO LIFE: In the month of December, a couple of complaints were received concerning threat to life and alleged monitoring of movement from GSM no 08165270517. Investigation led to the arrest of one Smart Richard ‘m’ who hails from Delta State. Smart is an ex-convict who served a five-year jail term at Kirikiri Medium
Correctional Center. The suspect identified one Kingsley Richard ‘m’ currently serving a jail term at Kirikiri Correctional Center as his associate. Further investigation revealed that while Smart collated telephone numbers and operated an online wallet account through which they collected their blackmail money, Kingsley while still in prison sent the threat messages and makes threat calls to the collated numbers. The Command is currently working with the Nigerian Correctional Service towards extending investigations to Kingsley Richard.

CONSPIRACY AND ARMED ROBBERY: On September 28, 2022, an intelligence gathering revealed that some unknown gunmen specialized in carjacking within Lagos and some neighbouring States. Investigation led to the arrest of one Segun Adeleke ‘m’ aged 41, Monsuru Aderogba ‘m’ aged 27, Gbenga Sokanbi ‘m’ aged 33, and Lukmon Akanwo ‘m’ aged 24. Two locally made double barrel cut-to-size guns, twenty-five live cartridges, one unregistered RAV 4 SUV, two unregistered Golf 3 cars, one unregistered Toyota Sienna, and one unregistered Toyota Corolla were recovered from the suspects. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects and recover their operational arms and ammunition.

CONSPIRACY AND STEALING: This deals with a case of stealing reported against one Eninjah Jude‘m’ aged 32. The suspect specialized in taking up employment as a driver only to steal the vehicle and sell off the same. In November, he took up employment as a school bus driver and absconded with the vehicle, a Toyota Hiace bus a few days after. Diligent
investigation led to his arrest and recovery of the vehicle on November 16, 2022, in Calabar in the process of selling the vehicle. The suspect will soon be charged in court.

STEALING: This deals with a case of stealing where a driver Ezugwu Nelson ‘m’ aged 32 was laid off in the month of November 2022 somewhere in Yaba. His employer later discovered that the car’s spare key was missing but did nothing about it. On December 16, 2022, the employer parked her vehicle, a Toyota Camry, outside the compound only to
discover the vehicle stolen. Upon receipt of the information, investigation led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the vehicle in Ikorodu.

Further investigation led to the arrest of the employer’s security guard one Raymond Saater Ukange ‘m’ aged 32 who was found to have worked in cohort with Nelson. The suspect will soon be charged in court.

STEALING AND FRAUD: This deals with a case of fraud running into Twenty Million Naira was reported against one Taiwo Amurudeen Abdulrauf ‘m’ aged 48 by many victims. The suspect specialized in dating young ladies and luring them to open new bank accounts using their personal information such as NIN, International passports, etc. Thereafter, the suspect would use the accounts to receive proceeds of fraud. The investigation led to his arrest in a hotel in Ogun State and the recovery of one unregistered Toyota Avalon saloon car which he bought with the proceeds of his fraudulent activities. Investigation is ongoing to recover the stolen money. Suspects will be charged to court at the completion of
investigation.

Lagos CP felicitates with residents and the good people of Lagos State, especially Christian Faithfuls on the occasion of the 2022 Christmas celebration. He assures safety of the State as a top priority to adequate humans while stating that operational resources have been deployed to all strategic points across the State.
