CP Idowu Owohunwa Deploys Officers, Sues For Peaceful Election In Lagos

…As DIG Babatunde Kokumo sanitise Lagos Police, warn Lagosians against election violence

Owohunwa warns political thugs, those plotting to dismantle the general election coming up on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

In a meeting with newsmen on Thursday, CP Idowu Owohunwa said: We are fully prepared to secure lives and property and to ensure peaceful conduct of the general election.

Also, he made a clear statement to the public saying that deployment of the police in the state is not to intimidate innocent electorate but to reassure them of the capacity of the state of the police leadership to protect them as they go out to exercise their franchise.

Again, he said: ” the massive deployment of police officers is also to send a right warning to those we often refer to as electoral advisories, those that are trying to threaten the process to send a clear statement to them that if they try it, the full fang of the law will be brought against them.”

Earlier, the CP deployed officers for elections across the state and also called for peaceful elections.

Also speaking at press conference, DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo sensitised officers and issued out warning to Lagosians against election violence.

Kokumo said it is expected of us to ensure an election that is peaceful, free of crisis, fair, and transparent with the provision of electoral Acts.

“Members of the public should not unleash terror because we have provided adequate security and prosecution provisions.
