The Kebbi State Police Command has unveiled a series of activities to commemorate the 2026 National Police Day, with a strong focus on enhancing collaboration between law enforcement and the public.
Announcing the programme in Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to people-centered policing, stressing that effective security can only be achieved through sustained partnership with communities.
The week-long activities will commence on Monday, March 30, 2026, with an environmental sanitation exercise along Ahmadu Bello Way, alongside a medical outreach at the Central Market in Birnin Kebbi. The outreach will provide free healthcare services to residents as part of efforts to strengthen goodwill and public engagement.
On Tuesday, March 31, a walkathon is scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m. from the Police Divisional Headquarters near Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital. The route will cover major roads within the metropolis before returning to the starting point. According to the Command, the exercise is designed to promote unity and foster stronger police-community relations.
Further activities include public sensitization campaigns on Wednesday, April 1, focusing on electoral violence prevention, peaceful coexistence, and road safety awareness. On Thursday, April 2, the Command will honour fallen officers by presenting cheques to their families in recognition of their sacrifices.
The celebrations will culminate in a grand finale at Eagle Square on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
The Commissioner of Police called on stakeholders, including the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), other security agencies, civil society organisations, and the general public, to actively participate in the events.
He also assured residents of the Command’s continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while urging citizens to support policing efforts by providing timely and credible information.
