…Eulogizes Somolu LG Chairman ‘Dullar’ on Public Health Care
The First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwoolu flagged off two rounds of Polio Outbreak Response Vaccination campaigns today at the Somolu Local Government Secretariat, following the discovery of environmental poliovirus strains in Somolu, Apapa, Lagos Mainland, Mushin and Surulere.
The immunization programme which was meant for children age 0-5years, is a collaboration between the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board and the aforesaid five (5) local government areas, gave the First Lady a captivating opportunity to visit her home and seek for the cooperation of the whole community.
The first Lady pledged to Mr Governor’s THEMES and commended the inestimable efforts of Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu on Public Health Care. She also cited the resilience of various Health Workers and the adverse impacts of both COVID-19 and the hijacked #ENDSARS Protests have had on the economy, security, health indices, citizen’s lives and properties in this year 2020.
She recognized the presence of Hon. Rashidat Omolola Essein (Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland LG and Chairman of Conference57 Chairmen), Hon. Mrs. Florence Salawu (Wife of the Executive Chairman), Hon. Mrs Mariam Salawu (Chairperson), Political, Religious, Market and Artisan Leaders; CDC/CDAs, Security operatives, Media personnels, representatives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in Somolu among other dignitaries. “Our children’s future and health will continue to be a priority for Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu led-administration, as exemplified by the second pillar of the THEMES agenda which speaks Health and Environment”, Dr. Sanwo-Olu said.
According to the former Medical Director of Somolu General Hospital, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu pointed out that “Through the interventions of the Federal Government, the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Local Government Authorities and other Development Partners, WHO, UNICEF CHAI, Rotary in ensuring the country is certified against wild polio virus redeemed a brighter future for the nation.”
“I’m pleased to be among our parents, guardians, community, religious, traditional and opinions leaders, present and past Legislative and Executive members of Somolu. Let’s endeavor to take full advantage of this essential programme to ascertain routine vaccination for our children at the Primary Health Centres. God bless our women and children. Igbega Ipinle Eko, Ajumose Wa Ni” she concluded.
The host in Somolu, Hon. Abdul Hamed joined other Guest Speakers, Dr Adefunke Adesope (Director, Southwest Zone of NPHCA representing Federal Government), Dr. San Nyeni (WHO State Coordinator), Dr. Charles Nwosisi (UNICEF State Coordinator) and Mr. Lai Giwa (Council Manager) in lauding the State Government for the giant stride.
While acknowledging the return of the first lady who served the community meritoriously before her assumption to office, the Chairman spoke lenghty on the importance of maintaining proper and conducive healthy environment in the presence of Hon. Olumide Akinola (Supervisor for Health), Dr. Sunday Orebiyi (Medical Officer for Health) and Mrs. Rashidat Afolabi (Health Educator).
“Our Local Government now enjoys 24 hours Health Services delivery, periodical immunization and provision of standard medicines among other Health benefits in all our Primary Health Centres.”
“The on-going construction of new PHC in Bashua will be named as Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu Primary Health Care Centre. Our Children are indeed our heritage and needed adequate protection against diseases. Let’s support the vaccinators for our children to live healthy.” he emphasized.
First phase of the vaccination will commence from November 14 to 17, while the second phase was stipulated from November 12 to 15, 2020 across the 8 political wards in the community within 7am to 1pm daily.
Notably at the programme are Hon. Bowale Sosimi (Vice Chairman), Ogbeni Taiwo Adesanya (Secretary to the Local Government), Hon. Yomi Osunkoya (Leader of the Legislative Arms) and other Legislators; including previous and current Executive Members among others as aforementioned.
