In his keynote address, President Roopun stated that HR management had a key role in fostering successful and sustainable business organisations, adding that HR practices were central to any strategy. “HR Professionals,” he underlined, “are the ones to link employee capabilities with the level of performance required by a business organisation and improve effectiveness.”

However, he indicated that people management remained complicated and dynamic which was why he said, it needed to constantly adapt itself to emerging challenges and new technologies. “The global economy,” he pointed out, “has been hugely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine.”

“In the face of such unprecedented challenges, it is imperative that HR leaders start evaluating the immediate and longer-term impacts of these trends and the degree to which they will change strategic goals and plans,” he stressed.

President Roopun was confident that the Congress would benefit HR departments, enterprises, ministries, and policymakers and would enable them to identify risks, issues, challenges, and opportunities in human resources.

He congratulated Mr. Salauroo for his election as the Vice President of the WFHRA, whom he said, was working alongside global professionals to further improve the effectiveness of people management around the world and also ponder on challenges that Mauritius, as a Small Island Developing State, had to face from an HR perspective.Nigerian Delegation At The 2022 HR Congress Of Mauritius

He also spoke of the need to promote human-centric organisations that addressed the needs of employees and bring a fair balance between their professional and social lives.
