The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully foiled a cattle rustling operation along the Kamba, Kangiwa Road in Dandi Local Government Area, recovering 33 stolen cows and neutralising one suspected bandit.

The incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on April 3, 2026, when suspected members of the Lakurawa bandit group reportedly attacked a farmhouse, rustled livestock, and attempted to flee the area.

According to police authorities, operatives responded promptly to a distress call and, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigerian Army’s Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kamba, launched a coordinated pursuit of the suspects. The joint security team engaged the fleeing bandits in a gun duel, forcing them to abandon the stolen cattle.

During the operation, one of the suspects was neutralised, while another escaped with gunshot injuries. No casualties were recorded among security personnel.

All 33 recovered cows have since been returned to their rightful owner, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia, commended the operatives for their swift response and effective inter-agency collaboration, describing the operation as a testament to the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

The Command also reiterated its appeal to residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.
