Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has strengthened its operational capacity with the acquisition of ultra-modern Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to enhance efficiency and service delivery across its network of airports in Nigeria.
The company announced that the latest investment forms part of its broader strategy to improve safety standards, reduce aircraft turnaround time, and deliver world-class ground handling services to airline operators.
As part of the upgrade, SAHCO has taken delivery of a state-of-the-art pushback tractor manufactured by Goldhofer.
The model, Goldhofer F300, is powered by a high-performance diesel engine and is designed to handle most wide-body aircraft. Built with rugged materials, the equipment is suited to Nigeria’s terrain and has already been deployed to one of the company’s hub stations.
In addition, the firm has procured five advanced Ground Power Units (GPUs) produced by Guinault, a global manufacturer of aviation support equipment. Each unit delivers 45kVA at 115 volts and 28VDC, providing reliable electrical power to aircraft systems while on the ground.
The GPUs are powered by fuel-efficient gasoline engines and are designed for durability, portability, and optimal ramp performance. They are capable of supporting most Class A aircraft and select Class B aircraft, making them suitable for high-traffic airport environments.
SAHCO noted that the compact design of the equipment helps reduce fuel consumption while ensuring operational flexibility and long-term reliability.
The acquisition underscores SAHCO’s continued investment in modern aviation infrastructure and technology. As the only ground handling company with operations across all commercially active airports in Nigeria, the firm said it remains committed to setting industry benchmarks through innovation, equipment upgrades, and customer-focused service delivery.
The company added that the deployment of the new GSE will further consolidate its leadership position in Africa’s aviation ground handling sector, driven by efficiency, reliability, and operational excellence.
Skyway Aviation Handling Company Plc provides a range of aviation services, including passenger handling, ramp services, cargo operations, aircraft cleaning, and crew transportation across Nigeria’s aviation network.
