RE: ENDORSEMENT OF ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU FOR PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA.

The Young Yoruba for Freedom (YYF) has endorsed Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate in the ongoing general elections in Nigeria.

YFF is unrelenting in its ideals of returning Nigeria, a country of nations, to a civil workable system as we agreed upon independence from English rule in 1960.

Leaders of the group took the decision after its emergency National and Diaspora Coordinating Council meeting.

A press statement signed by the leadership of the group was issued at the end of the meeting and sent to ROTAMEDIANEWS.

“As a result, the YFF preferred presidential candidate is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and we do not support any other candidate,” the statement reads.

The group said: “It might be recalled that the Young Yoruba for Freedom (YFF), through several media outlets by its President and present British Political Detainee, Adeyinka Shoyemi a.k.a Adeyinka Grandson, is clearly posited against the unitary system of government as currently practiced and brought about by the January 1966 Coup which had used a decree by the leadership of predominantly Ibo military officers to centralize all state resources of economic, natural and human capitals in Nigeria to the detriment of the defunct Yoruba Western Region’s development and to the benefit of internal/external perpetuating neo-colonial alliances branding as victims today. It is a known fact that despite Yoruba being a very accommodating nation to its neighbours in Nigeria and the highest cumulative financier of the Nigerian state since 1966, its political interest has never been supported to be President of Nigeria since independence.

“The most generally acceptable submission for a Nigerian presidency now is the stability of the country. Hence, YYF is convinced that there can never be stability without the devolution of power to the federating regions. This would be YYF’s main impression of a Tinubu presidency. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated his long-term commitment to getting good governance and the dividends of democracy to the grassroots in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, and to other indigenous peoples of Nigeria through diplomatic means. Therefore, we are conscious of him being the foremost advocate and leader for a decentralized democracy as buttressed in his manifesto to which the Young Yoruba for Freedom totally agrees and impresses in furtherance.

“Cognizant of the above, our unwavering position over the years, and the right of every Yoruba citizen in Nigeria deserving of a free, prosperous, and happy life, the YYF drums support for a decentralized democracy to the regions once agreed or as would be renegotiated in civility. However, in the absence of civility which has unfortunately characterized Yoruba’s coexistence with some nations in Nigeria so far, and if this “Nigeria” does not devolve power back to the regions, we will be left with no choice but to defend Yorùbáland and her interests to birth an independent Yoruba country with the use of chemical and biological weapons.

“Guided by the above, our conviction representing over 30 million young Yoruba globally, informed position on history and the unforgettable pain from the victimization of Obafemi Awolowo, 1963, Moshood Abiola, 1993 and in fellowship with other Yoruba interest groups, we, therefore, give our unalloyed support to elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of Nigeria, 2023.”
