The Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to community-focused policing with the rescue of an unconscious man during a routine patrol in Okpoko, alongside the payment of school fees for five outstanding pupils in the state.
According to the Command, police operatives attached to the Okpoko Division discovered an unidentified elderly man lying unconscious beside Dozzy Filling Station along the Onitsha/Owerri Road during a routine foot patrol. The officers immediately rushed the victim to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical attention.
The Police Command expressed concern over the condition of the man and appealed to members of the public with useful information regarding his identity, relatives, or residence to report to the Okpoko Police Division or contact the Command for necessary action.
In a related development, the Command fulfilled a promise made during activities marking this year’s National Police Day celebration by paying the second-term school fees of five pupils who distinguished themselves academically in their respective schools.
The initiative, according to the police authorities, is aimed at encouraging academic excellence, supporting education, and promoting nation-building across Anambra State.
The Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, stated that the Police remain committed not only to maintaining law and order but also to supporting initiatives that positively impact the lives of residents, especially young people.
He added that the Command would continue to combine effective policing with people-oriented programmes designed to strengthen public trust, compassion, and community development.
The statement was issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, on Wednesday in Awka.
