Bayelsa Guber2023: Diri Storms Sagbama Communities

The governor of Bayelsa State and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Douye Diri, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for obeying the Federal High Court judgement for not including the names of the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Timipre Sylva and his running mate Joshua MacIver among contestants in the forthcoming November 11th, 2023, Governorship election in Bayelsa State.

Senator Diri, accompanied by his deputy and running mate, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and the PDP campaign team stated this while commissioning projects as part of his governorship campaign in Bolou-Orua, Toru-Orua, Angalabiri, Ebedebiri and Ofoni communities in Sagbama Local Government Area.

Among the projects commissioned by the incumbent include; concrete walkway and bridge at Angalabiri and a town hall at Ebedebiri.At Ofoni Community, the homestead of the deputy governor and his running mate, Sen.Lawrence Ewhrujakpo, the governor commissioned a Technical college built by the Prosperity government, an ultra-modern motor Park and as well as the community Pavilion promising to do more if re-elected into office for a second term.

Addressing the mammoth crowd that graced the campaign rally, Gov.Diri commended his deputy for having a good working relationship with him. According to him; “If I and my deputy are not working together, we could not have achieved the projects we are commissioning today”.

He informed the crowd that they were not coming for the Campaign but to thank the people of Sagbama for voting for them in their first tenure and for the confidence that they reposed in the prosperity government to deliver the dividends of democracy in the state.

“So today, the news is that INEC has published the names of those who are eligible to contest in the forthcoming election. Also speaking, a former lawmaker and Acting Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon. Peter Akpe, said that the PDP has no rival in Tarakiri Clan, adding that the people of the area are in total support of Senator Diri’s second term bid and will massively vote for the PDP.

Hon. Akpe said “While going around meeting with my people, the response I get is that they can see the projects embarked on and completed by the Senator Douye Diri-led administration scattered across all the communities in Tarakiri Clan. They said they are going to give you all their votes, so that you can come back and do more.

Pastor Akpe commended the governor for his infrastructural and educational developments that are scattered all over Tarakiri Clan and Sagbama Communities in particular and Bayelsa State in general while assuring the people that the Prosperity government of Sen. Douye will do more to transform lives of Bayelsans if re-elected for second term.
