Fraud Alert: Fake ‘Value Growth Club’ WhatsApp Groups Impersonate Aig-Imoukhuede To Lure Victims

A public warning has been issued over a network of fraudulent WhatsApp groups operating under the name “Value Growth Club,” with perpetrators falsely claiming links to Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Access Holdings, in a bid to solicit funds from unsuspecting individuals.
The scammers are reportedly using the respected banker’s identity alongside references to “Gotham Capital” to create a veneer of legitimacy for what investigators describe as a coordinated impersonation scheme targeting retail investors and members of the public.
Checks carried out by independent sources confirm unequivocally that Aig-Imoukhuede has no affiliation with the so-called Value Growth Club or any related investment initiative. He has neither created nor endorsed such a group and is not involved in any WhatsApp-based trading platform, investment competition, or financial scheme linked to Gotham Capital or any similar entity.
Analysts note that the structure and messaging of the groups follow a familiar pattern seen in digital investment scams leveraging high-profile names, promising exclusive opportunities, and pressuring participants to commit funds quickly.
Members of the public are therefore urged to exercise heightened vigilance. Financial experts advise against joining such groups, transferring funds, or sharing sensitive personal or banking information with unverified individuals or platforms.
Potential victims are encouraged to exit any suspicious groups immediately, report the accounts to WhatsApp and relevant authorities, and disregard further communications. Public awareness, stakeholders say, remains a critical line of defence in curbing the spread of digitally enabled financial fraud.
Authorities and industry observers continue to emphasise the importance of verifying investment opportunities through official channels before committing funds.
