Gbajabiamila To Lead High-Level Delegation To Canada Investment Conference

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a high-powered government delegation to the first-ever Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference (NIDEC) in Canada, with his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, set to lead the team.
The conference, themed “Invest Nigeria, Thrive Abroad,” is scheduled to hold from August 12 to 15, 2026, in Toronto, Canada.
According to a statement by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media, Public Relations, and Protocols at the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), the high-level delegation underscores the President’s commitment to promoting trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Nigeria and Canada.
Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman and CEO of NIDCOM, described the conference as a high-level, outcome-driven investment platform that will also serve as a shared commitment by both countries to strengthen bilateral economic relations.
A Powerhouse Nigerian Delegation
Beyond Gbajabiamila, the Nigerian delegation includes a formidable lineup of federal ministers and state governors. They are:
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu
Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo
Executive Governors: Prof. Charles Soludo (Anambra), Prof. Babagana Zulum (Borno), Sen. Uba Sani (Kaduna), Caleb Mulfwang (Plateau), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara)
Other delegation members include Sen. Ita Enang, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany; representatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Revenue Service, and the Central Bank of Nigeria; as well as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Aisha Rimi; Executive Director of the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Nonye Ayeni; and Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi.

On the Canadian side, the high-powered delegation will include Hon. Shafqat Ali, President of the Treasury Board of Canada; Hon. Graham McGregor, Ontario Minister of Citizenship and Multiculturalism; Hon. Deepak Anand, Member of the Ontario Provincial Parliament for Mississauga-Malton; Mayor Patrick Brown of Brampton; CLR Rod Power of Brampton; and Hon. Charmaine Williams, Ontario Minister of Women and Economic Opportunities, among others.

The NIDEC Conference is organised by NIDCOM in collaboration with the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa, the Canadian High Commission in Abuja, and major national and international stakeholders.
