Guinness Nigeria Renovates Guinness Eye Centre At LUTH), Idi-Araba
By Olushola Okunlade
In line with our commitment to impacting society positively through several avenues including driving the culture of inclusion and diversity, we recently embarked on a comprehensive renovation of the Guinness Eye Centre at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba.

In his welcome address during the commissioning ceremony held on the 14th of December, 2023, Adebayo Alli – our incoming MD/CEO said “There is a popular saying that ‘The face is a picture of the mind with the eyes as its interpreter’, the importance of eye health cannot be over-emphasized, and this is one of the major reasons why Guinness Nigeria Plc. has tirelessly pursued this vision of supporting access to excellent and affordable healthcare to Nigerians.

The facility we are officially commissioning today was built almost 30 years ago, and since its inception, we have worked closely with the hospital management to ensure its smooth and effective running. Aside from the lump sum spent on the latest renovation (which cost us circa 160m NGN), we have donated an annual NGN5m equipment grant to the facility year-on-year.”

Dr. Omobola Johnson, Board Chair of Guinness Nigeria Plc while performing the ceremonial plaque reveal at the event said ‘As we celebrate this achievement, let us also reflect on the lives touched, the futures brightened, and the impact made by the Guinness Eye Centre over the past three decades. Our commitment to making a difference extends beyond the walls of this institution, and we remain steadfast in our pursuit of creating a healthier and more vibrant community.

I would like to express my gratitude to the dedicated healthcare professionals at LUTH, whose unwavering commitment ensures the success of initiatives like the Guinness Eye Centre. We are pleased to be supporting them by providing a more conducive environment for them to work. Together, we can continue to make strides in providing accessible and high-quality healthcare services to those who need it the most.
