Lagos Baales Rally Grassroots Support For Tinubu, Hamzat, Launch PVC Awareness Campaign

Traditional rulers and community leaders under the auspices of the Lagos State Baales Forum on Tuesday converged in Ojokoro, Lagos, for a special congregational prayer and grassroots mobilization rally in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.

The event, held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Modern Market Park, opposite the Oba Ojokoro Palace in Jankara-Ijaiye, Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA), brought together traditional leaders, political stakeholders, community groups, and residents from different parts of the state.

The prayer gathering was organized by the Lagos State Baales Forum as part of efforts to seek divine guidance, peace, stability, and continued progress for Nigeria and Lagos State, while also reinforcing grassroots support for the leadership of President Tinubu and the administration of Governor Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Hamzat.

Speaking at the event, the Convener of the Forum, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, alongside the Chairman of the Forum, High Chief Abu Jelili Ododo, emphasized the strategic role of traditional institutions in fostering unity, peace, and community development.

According to the organizers, the special congregation was aimed at offering prayers for the success of the nation’s leadership and the continued growth of Lagos State. They noted that traditional leaders remain critical stakeholders in strengthening democratic participation and ensuring that government policies resonate at the grassroots level.

The gathering also served as a platform for community engagement and political sensitization, with participants expressing confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu and the developmental trajectory of Lagos State.

A major highlight of the programme was the official launch of “Operation Show Your PVC,” a statewide civic awareness initiative designed to encourage eligible voters to obtain and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of future elections.

The campaign, championed by the Lagos State Baales Forum, is expected to be implemented across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). Organizers said the initiative seeks to deepen voter education, strengthen democratic participation, and enhance citizens’ involvement in the electoral process.

High Chief (Prince) Ganiu Ajibola Arowolo, the Authentic Baale of New Oko-Oba Town in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, Olori Ebi Olarokun Chieftaincy Family stressed that active participation in elections remains a vital component of good governance and national development, urging residents to embrace their civic responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to the democratic process.

High Chief Lukmon Sulaimon Oduntan Enimakure Adekola 1, Baale Ikola Odunsi Kingdom Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA at the event described the gathering as a demonstration of the growing influence of traditional institutions in community mobilization and civic engagement, particularly in promoting peace, unity, and democratic values across Lagos State.

The prayers offered during the congregation focused on national peace, economic prosperity, security, and wisdom for leaders at all levels of government, as participants called for sustained progress and development in Nigeria.
