LAPO Deepens Commitment To Sustainable Agriculture, Livelihood Support

Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable agriculture and community livelihood development as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen food security, reduce poverty and improve the economic wellbeing of vulnerable Nigerians.
Founded in 1987 by Dr. Godwin Ehigiamusoe, LAPO has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading development-focused institutions providing social, financial and community empowerment services across several sectors.
The organisation, through its livelihood and social protection initiatives, continues to support smallholder farmers, women and youths with financial inclusion services, agricultural empowerment programmes and climate-smart farming solutions aimed at boosting productivity and household income.
LAPO said its interventions are focused on promoting sustainable agricultural practices while expanding opportunities for economically disadvantaged communities across the country.
The organisation has in recent years intensified support for poultry, livestock, fishery, horticulture and domestic garden initiatives through targeted funding, extension services and enterprise support programmes.
As part of its agricultural livelihood programmes, LAPO has consistently advocated increased investment in sustainable farming systems capable of improving food production, job creation and rural economic growth.
The organisation noted that access to finance, modern farming inputs, technical knowledge and market linkages remain critical to improving the resilience and profitability of small-scale farmers in Nigeria.
LAPO also continues to champion climate resilience and sustainable finance through partnerships and community-focused interventions designed to help low-income populations adapt to environmental and economic challenges.
In addition to agricultural support, the organisation has maintained investments in education, healthcare, women empowerment, financial literacy and youth development as part of its broader poverty alleviation mandate.
