The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has debunked reports circulating online that claim the commission has approved new telecom tariff plans or increased existing tariffs.
NCC has advised the general public to disregard these false reports, which do not reflect the commission’s current actions or policies.
In a statement released via NCC Official Facebook Page, the Commission reiterated that no new tariff plans or hikes have been sanctioned. Instead, the commission has issued a directive to all telecom operators to simplify their current tariff plans. This directive aims to ensure transparency and fairness for consumers, enabling them to better understand and manage their telecom expenses.

NCC emphasised its commitment to protecting consumer rights and maintaining a fair telecommunications market. By mandating the simplification of tariff plans, the commission seeks to eliminate confusion and ensure that consumers receive clear and accurate information about their telecom services.
The Commission assures the public that any legitimate changes to telecom tariffs will be communicated through official channels. The commission remains dedicated to its regulatory role, working to enhance the quality of telecom services and safeguard consumer interests.
The public is encouraged to stay informed through official NCC communications platforms and to be wary of unverified reports. The NCC’s efforts are focused on fostering a transparent and consumer-friendly telecom environment.
