By Rashidat Olushola Okunlade | Lagos

BIC Nigeria has received two major honours at the 2026 Edge Awards, winning the Edge Outstanding Legacy Brand Award of the Decade (Corporate) and the Edge Outstanding Legacy Brand Award (Shaving Razor).
The awards, presented at Marketing Edge’s Edge Awards Night on Friday, September 25, in Lagos, recognise the brand’s sustained equity and performance in Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector over the past decade, alongside the continued relevance of its shaving razor brand to Nigerian consumers.
A Decade of Trust and Relevance
The double recognition reflects the longevity of BIC in Nigeria and the trust its brands have earned across generations of consumers. It also highlights the company’s focus on delivering products that meet everyday needs while evolving with changing consumer expectations.
“We are proud of these awards and thankful to Marketing Edge,” said Anthony Amahwe, General Manager, BIC Nigeria. “For us, a legacy is built through the trust people place in our products, day after day. These awards are a reflection of the work of our teams and partners, as well as the loyalty of consumers who have made BIC part of their everyday lives. They encourage us to keep building brands that remain relevant to consumers and the changing needs of the market.”
The 2026 Edge Awards brought together leading brands, corporate leaders, marketing and communications professionals, and other industry stakeholders under the theme “Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders” to celebrate achievements across the marketing and business landscape. The 14th edition highlighted excellence in creativity, innovation and strategic leadership, honouring brands, businesses, professionals and agencies for their contributions to the industry.
For BIC Nigeria, the recognition reinforces the company’s commitment to building brands that remain trusted, relevant and accessible to consumers. As the company looks ahead, it remains focused on delivering reliable, quality products and creating beautiful, better everyday essentials.

What To Know About BIC
A global leader in stationery, lighters and shavers, BIC brings simplicity and joy to everyday life. For 80 years, BIC’s commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable and trusted products has established BIC as a symbol of reliability and innovation.
With a presence in over 160 countries, and over 11,000 team members worldwide, BIC’s portfolio includes iconic brands and products such as BIC® 4-Color™, Cristal®, BIC Kids®, Lucky™, Tipp-Ex®, Wite-Out®, Djeep®, EZ Load™, EZ Reach®, BIC® Flex™, Soleil®, Tangle Teezer® and more.
Listed on Euronext Paris and included in the SBF120 and CAC Mid 60 indexes, BIC is also recognised for its steadfast commitments to sustainability and education.
Why It Matters
In Nigeria’s crowded FMCG landscape, where brand loyalty is increasingly contested and consumer preferences shift rapidly, a decade of sustained relevance is no small achievement. The Edge Awards’ decision to recognise BIC in two categories, one corporate, one product-specific speaks to a dual strength: institutional staying power and category-level dominance.
BIC’s shaving razor franchise, in particular, has remained a staple in Nigerian households despite the influx of lower-cost alternatives and changing grooming habits. That resilience suggests more than marketing muscle; it points to distribution depth, pricing accessibility and consistent product quality.
The broader significance, however, lies in what the recognition says about legacy brands in emerging markets. In an era where multinationals are frequently accused of treating African markets as afterthoughts, BIC’s continued investment in Nigeria and its willingness to evolve with local consumer expectations offers a counter-narrative.
For Marketing Edge, now in its 14th edition, the awards serve as a barometer of industry health. The theme, “Celebrating Excellence Beyond Borders,” also signals an ambition to position Nigerian marketing excellence within a wider continental and global conversation.
Whether BIC’s latest honours translate into deeper market penetration and continued innovation will be the real test. But for now, the company has earned its moment and the recognition is well deserved.
