Fidelity Bank Plc has congratulated Air Peace on its successful inaugural direct flight from Abuja to London Heathrow Airport, describing the milestone as a landmark achievement for Nigerian aviation and entrepreneurship.

In a statement, the bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, OON, commended the airline’s resilience and vision, noting that the expansion into the prestigious Heathrow route reflects the strength of indigenous enterprise and the growing global recognition of Nigeria’s aviation sector.

“We warmly congratulate Air Peace on the launch of its direct flights between Abuja and London Heathrow. This remarkable achievement reflects its unwavering commitment to advancing the Nigerian aviation industry,” Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe said.

She described the development as a proud moment for Nigeria, adding that Fidelity Bank has been a longstanding financial partner to Air Peace since its inception 11 years ago — a relationship built on shared values, collaboration, and commitment to national progress.

The Fidelity Bank CEO also praised the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, for his efforts in supporting local operators.

“The Honourable Minister’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for indigenous airlines is yielding tangible results. This Heathrow route launch is proof of what’s possible through effective public-private collaboration,” she stated.

Dr. Onyeali-Ikpe reaffirmed Fidelity Bank’s continued support for the airline and the aviation sector, highlighting the bank’s leading role in aviation financing and its belief in the capacity of Nigerian businesses to thrive globally.

Air Peace’s new Abuja–London Heathrow route marks its second direct service to the United Kingdom, following the successful launch of the Lagos–London route earlier this year. The expansion is expected to strengthen connectivity, lower travel costs, and further enhance Nigeria’s presence in international aviation.

Ranked among Nigeria’s top commercial banks, Fidelity Bank Plc serves over 9.1 million customers through digital channels, 255 business offices across Nigeria, and its UK subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited. The bank has received multiple industry awards for innovation, digital transformation, and SME banking excellence.
