Employees of Hydrogen Payment Services Company Limited have stepped forward in a voluntary blood donation initiative aimed at bolstering critical blood reserves across Lagos State, underscoring the Fintech firm’s expanding footprint in corporate social responsibility.

Organised in collaboration with the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service (LSBTS) and Gbagada General Hospital, the drive extended the global observance of World Blood Donor Day under the banner, “One Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.” The exercise drew robust participation from staff, whose contributions are poised to support emergency trauma care, surgical interventions, maternal health deliveries, sickle cell management, and accident victims reliant on timely transfusions.

Medical personnel from LSBTS and Gbagada General Hospital oversaw the screening and collection processes, while also educating donors on the physiological benefits of regular blood donation and dispelling persistent myths that often deter potential volunteers. Officials emphasised that sustained voluntary donations remain the bedrock of a secure and accessible blood supply chain.

Commending the initiative, Dr. Folashade Tawak, a Senior Medical Practitioner with the Lagos State Government, stated:

“Voluntary blood donation is one of the most direct and impactful acts of civic responsibility. We applaud Hydrogen for championing this cause and mobilising its workforce so effectively. Such partnerships are indispensable to maintaining the reserves that save lives daily.”

Fiyinfoluwa Olorunsola, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Hydrogen, framed the drive as a natural extension of the company’s core ethos:

“At Hydrogen, our mandate transcends payment infrastructure. We are deeply invested in the well-being of the communities that host us. This drive unites our people around a shared mission of compassion and service, and I am immensely proud of the culture we are cultivating, one defined by purposeful action.”

Echoing that statement, Obinna Ojekwe, Head of Marketing and Communications, reflected on the personal resonance of the effort:

“While we facilitate the seamless movement of value daily, this initiative allowed us to offer something far more personal. The realisation that a single donation can mean the difference between life and death gives this work profound meaning, and it is precisely the kind of organisation we aspire to be.”

The blood donation campaign forms a cornerstone of Hydrogen’s broader 2026 employee volunteering and corporate social responsibility framework, with additional community-centred programmes scheduled for the coming months.
