Lagos NSCDC Receives Newly Commissioned Gunboat, Flags Off New Tactical Anti-Vandal Operations

….As Commandant Eweka avows his unflinching commitment

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, today, Friday, 23rd September 2022, welcomes its brand new gunboat, which was amongst the eight (8), recently, commissioned, gunboats in the Corps, by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, in Rivers state.

In line with the vision of the Commandant General (CG), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Ph.D., MNI, to rejig, revamp, reinvigorate and reposition the Corps, to become a highly, proactive, responsible, and responsive Federal paramilitary organization, the Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Commandant of Corps (CC) Eweka Edenabu Okoro, MSc, ACMA, CNA, having participated, amidst others, in the earlier commissioning of the eight (8) gunboats, in Rivers, on 30th August 2022, today, upon the arrival of the gunboat, at the Ijora jetty, expressly, constitutes a high – powered delegation comprising, five Deputy Commandants of Corps (DCCs), the Public Relations Officer, Protocol Officer, Exhibit Unit and others led by the DCC in – charge – of Operation, DCC Jimoh Suleiman Agboola, to welcome the new Command’s gunboat, at the Ijora Jetty.

The newly constituted Anti-Vandal Team of the Command, headed by Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Donatus Alhassan, the Head of the Marine Unit, Superintendent of Corps (SC), Ogunyinka Joseph, and their team of dogged and competent personnel, receives the high – powered delegation, of the Command, led by DCC Jimoh Suleiman Agboola, DCC Operation, who also ably, represents the State Commandant, at the cheerful welcoming and flagging off, of the gunboat, for operational activities, along the coastal lines in the state.

DCC Jimoh Suleiman Agboola, who spoke, on behalf of the Lagos State Commandant, CC Eweka Okoro, said, “the sincere appreciation, of the Commandant, firstly, goes to God Almighty, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, the Honourable Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, the Commandant General, NSCDC, CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Ph.D., MNI and the entire officers and men of the Lagos State Command, for their sincere efforts to ensure that oil pipeline vandalism is brought not only down but also totally eradicated, in the state.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. This will enable us to renew our vigor, in a bid to stamp out oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the state, as well as better, protect the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI), of government, on the coastal lines in the state.”

Finally, the Commandant avows his steadfast commitment to eradicating oil pipeline vandalism, smuggling of oil products across the coastal lines, oil theft, and all other forms of economic sabotage, obviously, inimical to the growth and development of the nation.
