Police Launch Probe Into Fatal Attack, Abduction Incident in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has commenced a full investigation into a tragic incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 13, 2026, in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old man, Sufiyanu Garba, and the abduction of his wife by unknown assailants.

According to the Command, police detectives swiftly responded to the scene and initiated preliminary investigations. It was noted that a police checkpoint is located within close proximity to the area, which could have facilitated a faster emergency response if alerted promptly.

In a statement released by SP Bashir Usman Anisma, Police Public Relations Officer, Kebbi State Command, the victim was immediately evacuated to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead. His remains have since been deposited at the hospital morgue pending further procedures.

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case to ensure a comprehensive and meticulous investigation. The directive also prioritises efforts to secure the safe rescue of the abducted woman and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Command reassured residents of its commitment to strengthening the state’s security framework and intensifying strategies to prevent similar incidents.
