Seraphic Homes Foundation Rescues Mentally Challenged Persons from Streets, Offers Free Psychiatric Care in Anambra

Thousands of individuals living with mental health challenges across Nigeria continue to lack access to proper medical care, shelter, and social support, leaving many to survive under harsh conditions on the streets.
In response to this pressing humanitarian concern, the Seraphic Homes Foundation, founded by Evangelist Ebuka Obi, Spiritual Director of Zion Prayer Movement Outreach, has established a psychiatric hospital in Aguleri, Anambra State. The facility is dedicated to removing mentally challenged individuals from the streets and providing them with comprehensive psychiatric treatment and rehabilitation services at no cost.
As part of its ongoing outreach efforts, the foundation has been actively rescuing vulnerable individuals from various communities across Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Abia, and Ebonyi states. Plans are also underway to expand the intervention programme to cover all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
Rescued individuals are admitted into the Seraphic Psychiatric Hospital, where they receive free medical care, accommodation, feeding, and structured social rehabilitation aimed at restoring their health and dignity.
To date, more than twenty mentally challenged persons have been successfully taken off the streets, particularly from Anambra and Imo states. The initiative is gradually extending its reach to other parts of the South-East region, including Enugu and Ebonyi, as well as selected communities in the South-South.
Through sustained outreach activities and professional medical intervention, the foundation seeks to reduce the burden of untreated mental health conditions while restoring hope and improving the quality of life for some of society’s most vulnerable individuals.
