Stanbic IBTC Bank reinforced its commitment to fostering business relationships and community engagement through its standout sponsorship of the 2026 Lagos Polo Easter Tournament.

The event, held from April 5 to 6 at the prestigious Lagos Polo Club, brought together an eclectic mix of corporate leaders, entrepreneurs, and families, transforming the iconic venue into a hub of sporting excellence and high-level networking.

Beyond the thrill of polo, often referred to as the “Game of Kings,” this year’s Easter Cup underscored the growing intersection between sport, enterprise, and social integration. The inclusive atmosphere enabled participants and spectators alike to connect, collaborate, and explore new opportunities across industries.

Speaking at the event, Eric Fajemisin, Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking at Stanbic IBTC Bank, emphasized the broader significance of the tournament.

“As we celebrate the vibrancy of this year’s Easter Cup, the spirit of polo transcends mere competition. This event symbolises our commitment to fostering community, collaboration, and excellence. At Stanbic IBTC, we are proud of our longstanding partnership with the Lagos Polo Club, as it reflects our dedication to supporting initiatives that unite and empower individuals and businesses,” he said.

Also reflecting on the partnership, Adeyemo Alakija, President of Lagos Polo Club, described the relationship with Stanbic IBTC as a strategic alliance built over time.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Stanbic IBTC. This relationship dates back to when the bank’s Patron and former Chairman, Atedo Peterside, was an active player. Their continued support has strengthened the vibrancy of our club, and there is much more to come,” he noted.

Similarly, Mohammed Sani Dangote, Captain of the Lagos Polo Club, highlighted that the collaboration goes beyond sponsorship, reflecting shared values and a forward-looking vision.

“The outlook for this partnership is incredibly positive. It extends to our players, who are key members of the Stanbic IBTC family. We are also focused on nurturing young talent and unlocking new opportunities through this collaboration,” he said.

The tournament also served as a valuable platform for professional networking. Biyi Adekunbi, a Real Estate Investment Manager at ARM, noted that the event continues to bridge the gap between sport and business.

“It’s a platform for professionals to converge and interact. Beyond sport, it enables the creation of meaningful business relationships and idea exchange,” he added.

Over the years, the synergy between Stanbic IBTC and the Lagos Polo Club has fostered a unique ecosystem defined by tradition, excellence, and connectivity. This year’s edition further amplified that legacy, drawing diverse groups into a shared space of engagement and opportunity.

The tournament concluded on a high note, with the Easter Bonnets team emerging champions after an impressive display of skill, coordination, and teamwork—aptly reflecting the spirit of unity that defines the competition.

For Stanbic IBTC, the sponsorship underscores a broader commitment to driving inclusive growth, strengthening communities, and supporting platforms that create lasting economic and social value.
