Fidelity Bank Expands ‘Give Her Power’ Initiative To Ogun, Empowers 100 Women
By Rashidat Olushola Okunlade
Fidelity Bank Plc has extended its women-focused empowerment programme, “Give Her Power”, to Ogun State, providing vocational tools to 100 women as part of efforts to promote financial inclusion and economic sustainability.

The initiative, launched nationwide in March to commemorate International Women’s Day 2026, is designed to support women-led micro and small-scale enterprises through practical interventions that enhance income generation and business resilience.
At an outreach event held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, the bank distributed 50 sewing machines and 50 grinding machines to selected beneficiaries drawn from various communities across the state.
The event attracted key stakeholders, including market leaders, community representatives, and government officials. Among them was the Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Adijat Adeleye-Oladapo.
Speaking during the programme, Fidelity Bank’s Regional Bank Head, Southwest 1, Mr. Folaranmi Jemirin, said the initiative reflects the institution’s strategy of delivering impactful and sustainable empowerment.
He noted that economic empowerment of women has a multiplier effect on families and communities, adding that the Ogun outreach builds on the momentum generated since the programme’s launch earlier in the year.
Jemirin explained that the initiative is anchored on HerFidelity, the bank’s women-centric platform, which provides access to financial literacy, business advisory services, vocational training, mentorship, and wellness support for female entrepreneurs.
He further disclosed that the bank has scaled its interventions nationwide, including the distribution of over 1,000 vocational tools, the rollout of the HerFidelity Apprenticeship Programme 2.0, financial literacy programmes for girls, and targeted mentorship engagements.
Describing the support as more than a donation, he urged beneficiaries to leverage the tools to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to their local economies.
In her remarks, Adeleye-Oladapo commended the initiative, describing it as a practical step towards addressing economic challenges faced by women.
According to her, the programme goes beyond symbolic recognition of women to delivering tangible opportunities that can transform lives and strengthen households.
She also lauded Fidelity Bank for aligning with the Ogun State Government’s development agenda under Governor Dapo Abiodun, particularly in advancing women’s economic empowerment, and encouraged beneficiaries to make effective use of the equipment.
The “Give Her Power” initiative is part of Fidelity Bank’s broader commitment to inclusive growth, aimed at fostering entrepreneurship, supporting small businesses, and strengthening communities.
Fidelity Bank Plc currently serves over 10 million customers through its digital banking platforms, 255 business offices across Nigeria, and its United Kingdom subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited.
